EDITORIAL STANDARDS
How I Make This
WHAT THIS IS
I document the people who build sport off the results page. Not only coaches — anyone whose work shapes an athlete's experience without ever showing up in a box score. Volume I begins with five women coaching high school cross country in the South Sound and Kitsap region. It won't end there.
EVERY VOLUME ASKS ONE QUESTION
Every volume is built around a single question about the people in it. I don't answer it in advance, and I don't let it resolve into a headline.
Volume I's question: coaching is a culture, not a role — and you measure it in who people become after it.
DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY
I never ask a subject to recreate a genuine moment. I never move objects for a documentary photograph. Portraits may be directed. Documentary photographs may not.
QUOTES
I may edit a quote for clarity. I never edit one for meaning.
REVIEW
Subjects review their profile for factual accuracy. They don't have editorial control over how their story is told.
THE FRICTION STANDARD
If a profile only shows things working, it isn't finished. Every story has to find where it strained, failed, or went somewhere unintended.
PACE
I publish slowly. Depth over volume. Nothing here is built for a feed.
